Our Story
At Petals In Thyme Event Design and Florals, we are an award winning, family-owned and operated business that has been serving the community for over 10 years. We come from a family line of gardeners, florists and educated horticulturists. With the added benefit of experience in the food and beverage industry, we are the best in the area for designing, creating and finishing the look of your event to make your floral vision come to life.

About Abigail
I am the owner and creative designer at Petals in Thyme. I spent years in the financial sector, and although the work was good, I really missed being creative. My Mum is a Horticulturist, my grandparents were avid gardeners and florists. I grew up with and have been passionate about art my whole life. I absolutely love to organize and decorate a good party, activity or gathering. When I was pregnant with my son, I decided to go back to College to become a certified florist. It appears, plants and flowers are a part of my genetic profile. From there I became so passionate, I decided to obtain my Canadian Academy of Floral Art Designation. Upon being a member for two years, I was voted onto the CAFA board of executives where I helped create educational programming for new and experienced florists alike. As a leader in my field, I have taught floristry at Georgian College and currently sit on the Advisory committee for the Floral and Fashion programme at Senecca College.
I compete in floral competitions regularly some local and some international. I have won a few but I only compete for the amazing learning experience of engaging with my peers.
After all of these wonderful experiences, I have become really focussed on our family owned business - applying all the knowledge I have obtained, while keeping a really balanced life with my incredibly loving and supportive husband and my son. Ever a lover of being up to date and in tune with education, art and fashion trends, I am also working towards obtaining my European Masters in Floral and Design.
I absolutely love and feed off the energy of event work. When people come together - regardless of the occasion, there is a feeling love, excitement; of camaraderie in an event space which is simply wonderful. Seeing people together and surrounded by beauty feeds my soul with joy!
In studio, you will normally find me buried in the walk-in with the flowers, creating at my work bench, or on a phone or computer looking for the best flowers. Off site you will see me personally helping to set up your event florals and going over your final look with a fine tooth comb to ensure quality, beauty and a sparkling finish.
At home I spend time with my family two dogs, two cats... Enjoying all the outdoor activities my beautiful town and surrounding area have to offer. In down time you will almost always find me with a plant, design or art education text book in my hands.
